PRESHUTE 1.

5407 Church of St George (Formerly listed under Manton Village) SU 1768 4/111 18.7.49.

B 2.

C12: only 4 bay arcade exists from this period: capitals with trumpet scallops.

C15 west tower. Ashlar. 3 stages. Angle buttresses with setbacks. Crenellated parapet. 4-light windows on top stage with Perpendicular tracery.

Remainder 1854. Architect T H Wyatt. Coursed nodular flint and ashlar chequer board work.

Font, probably C13, of tournai marble, said to come from Castle chapel. Some C14 sculpture from earlier church. Some good monuments. Very good Cl8 gravestones in churchyard.
