LONDON BOROUGH OF MERTON THIRSK ROAD, MITCHAM TQ 27 SE (west side) 2/162 Church Hall of St Barnabas' Church GV II

Church hall. Dated 1908; by H P Burke-Downing. Brown brick, red dressings and banding; some Portland stone dressings. Steeply pitched tiled roof to eaves.

Free neo-Georgian manner. One storey, 7 bays to Thirsk Road with gabled returns.

Entrances to southern bay and to rear in projecting pilastered porched with hipped roofs, and modillion eaves cornices. Low projecting wing to north end of Thirsk Road elevation, with round headed dormer. Other windows, square gauged headed; flush framed sashes (24 panes). Round headed window to south.

Buttresses between bays, those to corners breaking up through roof with polychrome banding. Rich modillion eaves cornice. Fleche with cupola and weathervane finial. Similar treatment to return and rear.
