BISHOPS WALTHAM BROOK STREET SU 55 17 9/53 Southbrook House 3.12.84 GV II

House. C16 Timber-framed house with a cross wing, much altered and with extensions of the early and mid Cl9. Walls stuccoed, with small areas of exposed frame, painted brickwork and tile-hanging. Tile roof. Irregular east front and gabled wing (tile-hung) projecting at the south side, two storeys and attic, 1.1 attic above 0.3 windows. Casements. Plain doorway beneath a gabled canopy on brackets. The west (garden) elevation was re-modelled in tbe early C19, with a tall north side gable above a two-storeyed half-hexagonal bay, and a 'Tudor' porch with arch flanked by narrow openings, the bay having small castellations and some windows having hoodmoulds. Tall casements and French doors, half-glazed door within an architrave (inside the porch). Minor single- storeyed wings at the north end.
