ST THOMAS S PLACE {1.} {seas} ( Centre ) Parish Church of St Thomas {sj 1919 yE} 6/16 {i jj + q + %} {+} A 2. {"} {l'122-+,} by {C.orge} {Ba.sevi} (his {onliT} surviving Commissioners church). The grandest {classical} church in the Manchester {region} {End} the only Commissioners church of the {1st} grant in Cheshire. {But.It} {imder} the Million pound act of {l+ll.I} at {a,aost} of {+,15,moo.} Design has {affinities} with {HawksmoorJs} St Alphage, Greenwich.

Ashlar. Nave of {'i} {bays,} aisles, north and south porches, {lofty} west tower rising to clock stage {and} {ciJpola.} {The} east end, {formerly} the main entrance {fr<,nt,} has a giant {hexast.yle} Ionic portico, with pediment. Notable interior with Corinthian colonnade over the {galleries.} Ionic {altar-piece.} The chancel was {remodelled} in {l+90} by {Medland} Taylor and the original seating has been {replaced.} {+}
