17/87 Bridgnorth Cockpit
GV II
Cockpit. Late C18, re-erected and restored 1979. Brick with tiled pyramidal roof. Square plan. One storey, two entrances with semi-elliptical heads, the roof is capped by a ball finial. Interior: complex roof structure, basically a central king-post with raking struts supporting rafters. The walls are entirely new, using reclaimed C19 bricks; the main interest lies in the extremely fine roof structure which was dismantled in 1973.
