5193 SHAPWICK CHURCH STREET Crabb Cottage and former Cart Shed ST 93 01 7/7 21.12.82 II GV 2.

Late C16 early C17. Walls of stone, brick and cob. Thatched roof, brick stack.

One storey and attics. Present house has one room on each floor - (now subdivided) but may have extended further to south. South wall rebuilt in brick in C18 or C19. North gable wall - (contains chimney) of brick and stone in chequer pattern.

East wall has, on ground floor, one casement window with centre glazing bar.

Attic has one dormer with casements. Entrance in south wall. Part-glazed door.

Ground floor has two casement windows with glazing bars. Attic has two similar windows, in gable.

Main ground floor room has large open fireplace with timber lintol and bread oven.

Two deeply chamfered ceiling beams with cyma stops.

West of house, a former cart shed, single-storeyed, with cob walls and thatched roof, now incorporated in the house and linked to it by a flat-roofed lobby.

Reputed to be the former Priest's House.
