GREAT BEDWYN CHURCH STREET SU 26 SE (north-west side) 11/92 School

II Schoolrooms, 1835, patron the Marquess of Ailesbury. Ashlar limestone with tiled roof. Single-storey, 2 classrooms end to end with central porch with inner doors to each room. Later infants block attached to rear. Steeply gabled projecting porch with studded timber door under Tudor arch. Fanlights in spandrils.

Ailesbury Arms in crowned garter and scroll in relief over. Two 2- light windows with chamfered surrounds and label mould either side, and similar but taller windows in gables. Internally on rear wall, painted map 1841 of the 2 world hemispheres, British possessions outlined in red; poor condition and covered over at the time of survey (February 1985).
