COTHERSTONE HALLGARTH HILL NZ 0119 (North side) 30/49 Hallgarth Hill House 12/1/67 II House. Mid C18 with early C19 additions. Squared rubble. Stone-flagged roofs with stone and brick chimney stacks.

2-storey, 3-bay main block with lower 2-storey left bay (the latter a C20 byre conversion). Flush quoins. Replaced 4-panel door, to right of centre, in pedimented doorcase with engaged Corinthian columns on low pedestals. Door lintel formerly inscribed J.H. 1778 (John Hutchinson). Square sundial above, in moulded surround with bracketed sill, iron gnomon and ball finial, is AD inscribed I.A. 1774 (John Askew). Flanking replaced 4-pane sashes in flush surrounds. Roof with coped gables. Stone end stacks with top bands and water tables.

Left bay has two 4-pane sashes with flush lintels and projecting sills. Roof with coped left gable. Rebuilt right end chimney of brick.

Continuous added outshut under lean-to roof, to rear of main block.

Late C20 glazed addition to left return is not of special interest.
