7/65 The Grove Arms 6.1.66 GV II
Inn. Early C17 with additions early C18 and C19. Dressed limestone, thatched roof to C18 range, tiled roof with hip to C17 range, gable end brick stacks. L-plan. Two-storey, 5-window. C18 range to left has C20 door in moulded case with transom light and flat wooden hood, large 3-light mullioned casement to right, late C19 canted bay with 4-pane sashes and two 16-pane flush sashes to left, plat band to first floor; five 2-light recessed chamfered mullioned casements. C17 range to right has two 3-light recessed chamfered mullioned casements and C20 door to ground floor, first floor has 3-light mullioned casement and larger 5-light mullioned casements, the right hand windows have hoodmoulds. Right return has fixed window and 2-light casement in place of former mullioned casement to left, planked door and entrance to courtyard to right, stone and concrete steps to first floor 6-panelled door to left, to right is 4-light mullioned casement and 3-light leaded casement.
Attached to rear are C19 single-storey brick extensions, partly enclosing rear courtyard.
Interior has chamfered beams, those in C17 range are deeply chamfered with stepped stops, corner fireplace in main bar of inn has stone eared surround with cymna-moulded frieze and keystone to heavily moulded cornice.
