SD 73 SE PADIHAM ARBORY DRIVE

3/22 Arbory Lodge - - II

Pair of lodges and gateway to the Huntroyde Demesne, now a single private house, c1800 with a later C20 extension to the left. Sandstone rubble with a slate roof. Diamond-planned two-storey lodges placed symmetrically on each side of the carriageway. Both lodges have a plain two-centred arched opening above a plinth on the ground floor of each face with a round window above and a turret at each corner decorated with tiny battlements above blind arrow-loops. The lodges are linked by a tall two-centred arch which, like the lodges, is topped by battlements. Original wrought-iron gates with spear-heads on two levels under a fan.
