3/88 The Water House - - II

House, latterly 3 dwellings. C16 origins, largely rebuilt and extended mid to late C17, altered C20. Timber frame, plastered. Thatched roof. Originally 3 bays and part open, extended by 3 bays at parlour end and 1 bay at service end to form a 3 cell lobby entry plan. 2 storeys. 6 panelled door to left of centre, C20 1,2 and 3-light casements. Rebuilt axial ridge stack between hall and parlour to left of centre. Right or service end external stack tapering to ridge. Gable end pentice boards, exposed plates and purlins. To rear a C20 lean-to addition. Interior: traces of 5-light diamond mullioned windows, inserted stop chamfered cross axial binding beam in hall, straight and curved arched bracing in parlour with an ogee stop chamfered cross axial binding beam, first floor reverse curved bracing, collars clasp purlins.
