LONG WHATTON WEST END SK 4723 13/200 No 27 (Farthings) (formerly listed as The 7.12.62 Tudor House) GV II

House. Early C17 gabled cross wing to left; T-plan block to right C17 in origin but much rebuilt early C18; C19 and C20 infill to rear. Cross wing to left is timber-framed with diagonal braces, herringbone brick infill and rubble stone plinth. Right block has some timber framing in original rear walls and in rear wing, but is much rebuilt in red brick, the front wall and right gable chequered with vitreous headers. Rubble stone plinth. Plain tile roofs, C19-C20 blue brick copings to right gable, brick chimneys. 2 storeys, the taller right block also with attic. 3 bays to front, the left bay gabled and projecting. C19 3-light horizontal sashes, the upper left window replaced C20 by matching case- ment. Lower right windows have cambered heads. Between right bays are single lights, the lower with segmental head, the upper blocked. To left of taller block is a 4-panelled door with fanlight and segmental head, a later single above, and a blocked original fireplace window to right. Door leads to cross passage which may originally have been a gap between 2 separate C17 builds.

INTERIOR: left wing has stop-chamfered spine beam in rear room, with one end on moulded bracket with zig-zag and dentil ornament; front room of same wing retains winder stair and thrawls. Right wing has ovolo-moulded spine beams to ground floor, and altered staircase in rear wing.
