LONG WHATTON GRIMES GATE SK 4424-4524 (Diseworth) 12/175 Barn approximately 10 metres to south west of Old Hall Farmhouse GV II
Barn. Formerly dated 1692 on panel, now incorrectly dated 1675. Right end and part of left gable end rebuilt C19. C18-C19 lean-to stable extensions to rear.
Main part of barn is timber-framed with short slightly curved braces and colour- washed render and brick infill. Rubble stone base extends under brick rebuild- ing of right bay. Left gable partially rebuilt in brick. C20 corrugated asbestos roof. 4 bays. Front to road has board door with worn brick sill in third bay. Rear has blocked cart entry and lean-to stables of brick and rubble stone with 2 stable doors and 2 pitching eyes. Original roof trusses with raking queen posts.
