Description

This information is taken from the statutory List as it was in 2001 and may not be up to date.

SO 74 NW MATHON RURAL CP -

1/104 The Elms (formerly listed as 9.1.76 The Post Office)

GV II

House. Probably late C17 - early C18. Timber-framed, plaster and brick infill panels, tiled roof, external stack to rear. One storey and attic, 3 bays, regular fenestration: 2 matched early C20 casements to left 2 bays, C19 casement to right bay, one gabled dormer with 4-pane casement to each of the 3 bays; entrance to right of centre casement by ledged C20 door.

Frame panels are irregular up to level of ground floor window heads where they transform into a regular band which holds the composition together.

This may be due in part to restoration. Symmetrical struts to each of front corner posts. Weatherings to girding beams, gable tie-beams and collars.
