CALDECOTT THE GREEN SP 8693-8793 11/16 No 5 (Meadow Farmhouse).

GV II

House. Late C17-early C18, remodelled mid C19, front wall reconstructed c.1980.

Coursed ironstone rubble, Collyweston slate roof, coped gables, rebuilt flanking brick chimneys. Double pile. 2 storeys, 3 bays. Front has flush limestone band course at lintel level of lower windows, and mid C19 sashes, replaced c.1980, tripartite to outer bays and single to first floor centre. Central half-glazed door with rectangular fanlight. All openings have flat limestone arches with keyblocks. Interior has deeply chamfered main ceiling beams with moulded stops.

Room to rear right also has large fireplace with ovolo-moulded wooden lintel shaped into 4-centred arch. Soffit of arch and one of upper storey ceiling beams have raised triangles at each end. Fireplace lintel is roughly inscribed 1732.

Mid C19 slate fireplace with incised line ornament and flanking semi-circular headed recesses in front room.
