9/60 Attached Barn and Cart Shed 26.1.56 immediately west of Poxwell House GV II

Attached Barn and Cart Shed. C17 barn with some rebuilding to the west, and re-roofing, C20. Rubblestone walls. Clay tiled roof with gable ends. Through entrance to barn rebuilt jambs and lintel. On the south east quoin are scratched the initials H H presumably for Henry penning. Interior: 8 bays, with the 4 bays to the east probably earlier than those to the west. The east end has original trusses of jointed cruck construction, but with longer cruck posts than those of the east trusses. Attached cart shed, rubblestone rear walls and open fronted into the yard, carried on 5 renewed posts, (6 bays). Thatch roof. 2 leaf C20 doors with strap hinges at east end of this shed. (R.C.H.M.
