TQ 74 NE MARDEN BATTLE LANE (east side)

2/8 Wanshurst

GV II Farmhouse, now house. Late C16 or early C17 with C19 facade. Timber framed. Ground floor red and grey brick in Flemish bond, first floor tile-hung. Plain tile roof. Lobby entry plan, with approximately one timber-framed bay to left and three to right of stack bay, those to right apparently divided to form a single-bay room immediately to right of stack and a two-bay room to right end. 2 storeys, on low brick plinth. Half-hipped roof. Multiple brick ridge stack to left of centre. Irregular fenestration of 4 casements; one four-light to left, one small three-light under stack, one three-light to right and one four-light to right end. Three-light diamond mullion first-floor rear window to right. Ribbed door in gabled brick porch under stack.

Rear lean-to to left. Interior: only partly inspected. Exposed framing. Chamfered axial beam, and brick fireplace in English bond with wooden bressumer, to room to right of stack. Chamfered cross- beam and broadly-chamfered joists to right end room. Formerly known as Wanshurst Green.
