GOUDHURST CHURCH ROAD TQ 73 NW (east side) Kilndown 5/134 Tomb of A J Beresford- Hope, about 1 metre south west of Christ Church GV II Tomb/monument to A J Beresford-Hope and Mildred Beresford-Hope, d.1887 and 1881 respectively, designed by Carpenter and Ingelow, 1882. Freestone and granite with iron screen. Moulded stone base with 2 identical moulded granite chests, with bronze inscriptions on top slab. Granite screen to west, with metal details, 2 ties of buttressed and traceried panels with shields, saints and large central mandorla of Christ in majesty, with ogee shaped head and rosy cross finial with small painted portrait (of Christ ?). The rear of the screen with medallion relief of Mildred Beresford-Hope, as a young early Victorian woman.
