This was probably one house originally and is now occupied as one, but at some intervening time it was divided into 2 and so has 2 numbers. Restored C15 timber-framed house with the first floor overhanging on the ends of the projeotinq floor joists and a heavy beam below this. Close studding above. The ground floor has a heavy wooden post and a curved brace at the east end. 2 storeys and attic. 2 windows. Tiled roof. Windows modern.

1 modern dormer. Double door with 8 carved panels. The side is of brick with a hipped gable and timber-framing in this. The VCH says that the house contains C15 ceiling beams and roof and a C17 ordinary chimney stack and fireplaces on the east side, also that there is a C16 wing at the back.

All the listed buildings in Mermaid Street form a group.
