COLLINGBOURNE KINGSTON A338 SU 25 NW (west side) 4/163 Barns at Manor Farm GV II

Two barns in line. C17 and C18. Timber framed and weatherboarded, corrugated iron and asbestos cement roof. Seven bays at north end form later barn, with western aisle. Original door in third bay and later pair of cart doors inserted in bay 7.

Tie beam trusses with curved braces to posts, and braces to arcade plate. Raking struts to collars and principals diminished over clasped purlins. Aisle divided by sleeper walls. Ridge piece.

Bridled joints to plates. South barn, C17 of 7 bays, narrower, now a corn store. Roof thatched. Similar construction to north barn but jowled posts, vertical queen struts and windbraces to 1 tier of clasped purlins. Rafters pegged. Aisle on east side of bays 4 to 7. No ridge. Original cart doors in bay 4.
