SD 9271 - 9371 ARNCLIFFE VILLAGE GREEN (east end) Outbuilding approximately 5 metres west of Carr 22/16 Farmhouse

GV II

Outbuilding. Dated 1723. Coursed rubble, graduated stone slate roof, 2 storeys, 2 bays. Quoins. Board door to left with quoined jambs and projecting lintel. 3-light flat-faced mullion window to right and a square loading window with recessed chamfered surround above; between these windows a square plaque with moulded frame and raised lettering "1723". Left return: blocked central narrow window below eaves level.

The building was probably built as a stable. The date plaque and 3-light window may be re-used, possibly from the Carr farmhouse, the outbuilding may have been built when Carr Farmhouse was re-fenestrated in the mid C19.
