9/97 Barton House 4.10.60 G.V. II

House, possibly C17 or earlier origin but enlarged and extensively altered C20.

Coursed rubble, timber framing and render, thatched, half-hipped roof with rendered stacks possibly at the ends of an original range. Picturesque, 'half- timbered' restoration. Single storey and attic, asymmetric fenestration. C20 wooden mullioned casements with diamond leaded-lights throughout. Wooden lintels.

5 dormers of various sizes, two of which are jettied. "RCHM, Dorset, Vol III", HMSO, 1970, p 284, no 58.
