KELMSCOTT Barn approx. 15m S of SU29NE 5/89 Kelmscott Manor 12.9.55 (Formerly listed as part of Kelmscott Manor with Barns to SE and S of house and Dovecote) GV II

Barn. Late C17 with later alterations. Uncoursed limestone rubble with alternating angle quoins; stone slate roof, hipped to north end and with coped verges to south end and projecting range. L-plan. West side has C20 casements with wood lintels, 2 to left and one to right of roughly central plank door.

Plank door in angle to right with projecting range, which has 2-light chamfered stone mullion window with narrow round-headed opening above to gable.

Rectangular air vents to gable end. East side has segmental-headed double doors to left, wide infilled entrance to centre and plank door to right. Interior.

Main range has double-purlin roof in 5 bays with central collar and tie-beam trusses, one with curved struts and the other with raking struts from tie beam to principal rafters; remaining bay divisions are stone walls. Converted to domestic use in late C20 except for north bay which retains hayloft.
