1/157 Speargate (Formerly listed as Spear 23.3.60 Gate Cottage) GV II

Detached house. C17. Rubble stone, stone slate roof, gable end stone stacks with moulded cappings. Three-cell plan. Two-storey, 3-window. Central C20 door in moulded square surround, recessed hollow-chamfered single casement and 4-light hollow-chamfered and roll-moulded mullioned casement with hoodmould to left, 3-light recessed chamfered mullioned casement with hoodmould to right.

First floor has three 2-light hollow-chamfered mullioned casements.

Attached to right return is lean-to extension with C20 three-light mullioned casement. Attached to left return is 2-storey C20 extension with garage. Rear has blocked hollow-chamfered Tudor- arched doorway and two 2-light mullioned casements to left, C20 door and blocked square-headed moulded doorway to centre, 4-light leaded casement to right. First floor has two single-light leaded casements, 2-light recessed chamfered mullioned casement, 2-light wooden casements and C20 three-light casement, C20 extension to right has C17-style full dormer. Interior not accessible at time of survey (April 1986).
