6/195 The Cressy including front garden area railings -

GV II

House. Circa early C19. Coursed stone brick. Slate roof with stone coped gable ends. Gable end stacks with short red brick shafts.

Plan: Double depth rectangular plan with 2 principal front rooms with entrance passageway between with front and back doorways; the smaller left hand front room has a large kitchen behind it and the deeper right hand room has a straight staircase rising from the back of the room and the space to the right of the staircase is occupied by Corner House (qv) adjoining right.

Exterior: 2 storeys. North, symmetrical 2-window front. C19 2-light casements with glazing bars, the ground floor left is slightly larger and ground floor right a small canted bay window with a hipped slate roof and C20 plaster window frame. Central doorway with circa late C19 glazed and panelled door.

Rear elevation has C20 windows, plank doors and late C19 and C20 porches.

Including C19 front garden area railings, wrought iron with arrow heads to shafts, on dressed stone plinth and small monolithic stone gate-piers with ogee caps and similar wrought iron gate with curved base.

Interior: C19 joinery including panelled and plank doors, straight staircase with simple stick balustrade, and fireplace on first floor with moulded shelf and Victorian irongrate. Roof space not accessible.
