Description

This information is taken from the statutory List as it was in 2001 and may not be up to date.

BROADWOODWIDGER SX 38 NE 7/33 Huntsdown Farmhouse - II House. Probably C18 core with C19 remodelling. Rendered colourwashed cob on stone rubble footings. Thatched roof gabled at ends, stone stacks at ends.

The original plan was probably 2 rooms and through passage or cross passage, the hall, to the right, slightly larger than the left-hand room. A circa early C19 remodelling divided the former passage between a stair and a small service room formerly in use as a dairy with access from the hall to the left-hand heated room via a passage in front of the stair and dairy. A rear right lean-to may have been added at the same time.

2 storeys. Symmetrical 3-window front with a central gabled C20 porch. Ground floor windows are 4-pane late C19 or early C20 sashes, first floor windows are three 2- light casements. 2 panes per light, probably C20.

Interior C20 fireplaces. Ground floor room right has a boxed-in ceiling beam.
