10/183 Hobbs and Unidentified Monument, about 2.5m south of Gearing Monument in churchyard of Church of St. Lawrence

GV II

Two chest tombs. William Hobbs, died 183-; unidentified (probably also a Hobbs), early C19. Limestone. Moulded plinth and capping with plain frieze. Three-stepped tent tops, with curved edges to unidentified monument. Plain end panels with incised rectangular panel with projecting semi-circular section at top and roundels in "spandrels". Side panels slightly fielded with flanking fluted strips. Top of unidentified monument badly eroded and the whole partially overgrown at time of survey (March 1985).
