SU 16 NW WEST OVERTON - 9/118 Down Barn Cottage II Cottage. c1850-70. Sarsen with brick quoins and dressings.

Thatched roof. Two storeys, 'T'-plan with entrance, now blocked, lateral to stem of 'T' leading to stair hall. Now a boarded entrance door to living room. Paned casement windows and thatch swept over two flush dormers. Gable stacks.

Interior has large fireplace with mantel beam to living room, with oven at side. A surviving example of the remote shepherd's cottage still retaining the traditional large fireplace.
