12/37 Golden Lion Hotel and Railings
GV II
Hotel and front railings. C18. Rubble with ashlar dressings, stone slate roof. 3 storeys, 3 first-floor windows, double-depth plan. Rusticated quoins. Between bays 1 and 2, double-leaf 6-panel doors in C19 classical doorcase with frieze, cornice and blocking course. On ground floor, 3 canted bays, with golden lion above third, and in centre another on first floor with classical cornice and blocking course. On first floor, flanking sash windows in moulded ashlar surrounds. On second floor, 4 smaller sashes, that between bays 1 and 2 an insertion. Shaped kneelers, ashlar copings, stacks at ends and between bays 1 and 2. In front of building, low rubble wall with saddleback coping supporting cast-iron railings with fleurs-de-lis finials. Include for group value.
