ST6834NW 8/142 The Patwell Pump House, on North East corner of Church Bridge

GV II

Pumphouse. Probably C18. Repaired 1984. Doulting stone ashlar. About 1.8 metres square on plan: chamfered plinth, now mostly buried; plain sides capped by moulded eaves course; stepped pyramidal roof, ball finial; boarded door in triangular headed opening on East face; inside a wheel valve and pump machinery. On South side a curved random stonework wing wall. On site of St Patrick's well, one of several formerly in the town. (Couzens P, Bruton in Selwood, Abbey Press, Sherborne, 1972).
