Description

Cutty Sark opened as a museum ship in 1954. The ship is named after Cutty-sark, the nickname given to a fictional witch in Robert Burns' poem 'Tam o'Shanter'. The figurehead depicts Cutty-sark snatching a horse's tail, which features in the poem.
