THIS STAIRCASE, IN THE CHINESE TASTE, BELONGS TO A HOUSE BUILT ABOUT 1756-8, POSSIBLY TO DESIGNS BY JOHN VARDY. THE SHEET IS SIGNED AT THE BASE BY G. TOPHAM FORREST, THE L.C.C. ARCHITECT, WHOSE NAME APPEARED AUTOMATICALLY ON ALL L.C.C. 'PRESENTATION' DRAWINGS OF THIS PERIOD.
