Description

The identities of the knight and lady are thought to be Sir Robert Hilton (died 1372) and his wife, Maud.

The Hilton Chapel is located in the north aisle of St Mary's Church.

Underneath the image, on the mount, is the handwritten note 'Alabaster tomb of a Hilton & wife, on S. side of Hilton Chapel. ?Robert Hilton III, c.1352, & wife Maude (de Champaigne)'.

This photograph was withdrawn from the open Red Box Collection for conservation reasons during the 2011-2012 Red Box Project.
