An archaeological evaluation was carried out in November 1990 by Cleveland County Council, on deposits between columns of the north and south aisles of St John the Baptist Church, Greathem, in advance of building work for a proposed gallery. The file also contains measured drawings of the church and drawings for proposed mezzanine accommodation by D M Spouse.
