Practical Information Leaflet 3

This Practical Information Leaflet is primarily intended for owners, occupiers, building professionals and others who take responsibility for historic buildings. Within this leaflet, Historic England, provides guidance on assessing the potential for the survival of historic painted decoration, the manner by which their extent and location can be determined, and the sequence of steps that should be taken should wall paintings be found to exist, in particular during works to an historic building. Most importantly, it is hoped that this information will increase the awareness of wall paintings as an integral and unique component of our nation's heritage.
