Church of St James, Wirksworth Road, Idridgehay and Alton - Amber Valley
Parish church of 1854-5, designed by H. I. Stevens in the Decorated style. Ashlar gritstone with nave, nave porch, chancel, north aisle and north east tower with broach spire and lucarnes. The upper south and west corner of the tower is subject to increasing structural movement, with further movement evident at the basal stonework of the spire. Re-pointing to the upper tower and spire is required, alongside the renewal of the bell chamber floor and further roofing repairs. The congregation is keen to effect repairs and is investigating potential funding avenues.
