Moggerhanger Park, Willington - Central Bedfordshire (UA)

Late C18 landscape park by Humphry Repton for Godfrey Thornton, focussed on a late C18 / early C19 country villa remodelled by Sir John Soane with accompanying pleasure grounds and walled garden. A succession of C20 institutional uses resulted in a serious decline. In the late C20, the Moggerhanger House Preservation Trust was formed, overseeing restoration projects for house and core of the park. Despite considerable work, the park remains in divided ownership with features in variable condition. A strategy is needed for continued investment, further restoration and ongoing maintenance.
