Gates,Lodges and Screen Wall at South-East Entrance to Brocket Hall, Marford Road, Hatfield - Welwyn Hatfield

Lodges and gates. c1765 by James Paine for Sir Mathew Lamb. 2 lodges either side of entrance. Red brick with stone dressings. Slate roof. 2 storeys. Ground and 1st floor sash windows, the latter with segmental heads and set in relieving arches. Stone sill bands. Wooden modillioned eaves cornice. Walls of both sides of the lodges have semi-circular openings with cast iron screens and single gates. Terminal piers to walling have sill bands and paterae, the centre pair with wrought iron lamp holders. Roof completely collapsed in; significant damage to structure and fabric.
