Low Whita (Bells) Farm (West), Grinton, North Yorkshire Council (UA) - Yorkshire Dales (NP)
Remarkable survival of multiple pre-1700 dwellings formed by the subdivision of an earlier farmstead. Alterations made to the buildings through the C17 and C18 illustrate changing vernacular construction and architecture over time. The survival of features such as the 1680 inscribed lintel and daisy-wheel marks, which are likely to be apotropaic symbols from around 1700, are of interest. The buildings have been unoccupied for many years and are in poor condition. A scheme for reoccupation as a dwelling has been approved and work has started on site.
