The Red House, Boroughgate, Appleby-in-Westmorland - Westmorland and Furness Council (UA)
House and judge's lodgings of 1717, incorporating elements of previous house. Red sandstone walls, ashlar to principal elevation with projecting quoins and string course. Westmorland slate roof in diminishing courses. Projecting lead-lined cornice gutter, and timber sash windows. The 2018 Condition Assessment notes issues with the roof and rainwater goods. The principal area of concern is stone decay and delamination concentrated around the projecting elements, and exacerbated by cementitious pointing.
