Bouldnor Battery, Shalfleet - Isle of Wight (UA)

Battery built in 1938 situated on the west coast of the Isle of Wight to help protect the Solent. Buried components no longer accessible but survive. Mainly constructed from reinforced concrete which is now spalling and decaying due to corrosion of the internal reinforcement. Historic England has grant-aided temporary propping and waterproofing of the roofs. An Options Appraisal, also grant-aided by Historic England, was completed in early 2020 and options for the repair and possible re-use of the monument are being explored.
