Sharpe's Folly, Rothbury, Tosson, Whitton and Tosson - Northumberland (UA)
Folly, probably 1720s, by Archdeacon Sharpe, Rector of Rothbury. Ashlar round tower c30 feet high. Probably the earliest folly in the county, said to have been built partly to alleviate local unemployment and partly to satisfy the Archdeacon's taste for astronomy. In 2017, Historic England funded a survey report, building work schedule and options appraisal.
