Snailbeach New Smeltmill, Worthen with Shelve - Shropshire (UA)
The monument comprises a smelt mill and slag mill built in 1862 for the Snailbeach Mining Company. The slag mill has been stabilised but standing remains of the smelt mill furnaces are in very poor condition due to invasive uncontrolled vegetation. Historic England has completed an archaeological survey to record the earthworks and ruined smelters at the site. Further vegetation clearance and emergency repairs are needed to secure this important lead smelting complex.
