HIGHAM FERRERS COLLEGE STREET SP9668NW (East side) 18/29 College House 23/09/50 GV II*
House. Datestone AD/1633/WS and T.F.1683 and late C17/early C18. Squared coursed limestone with early C20 plain tile roof. 3-unit plan of different builds. 2 storeys with attic. 6-window range. Gabled porch breaks forward to right of centre with arch-head outer doorway with jewel-cut keystone. Ribbed door under stone lintel. Roundels with cusps to return walls of porch. 3-light stone mullion window to first floor of porch and small arch- head attic window. C17 canted stone bay window with gabled attic hood to right of porch has 5-light stone mullion window at first floor. Ground floor window has been modified and has only one light in right return. 2-light stone mullion attic window. 4-window range to left is late C17/early C18 with renewed leaded cross windows under gauged stone heads. Chamfered plinth and moulded cornice. Ashlar gable parapets and kneelers with square finial bases to C17 range. 2 gabled roof dormers with casements to C18 range. Brick and stone stacks at ridge and ends. Datestone above doorway 1633. Rear elevation has one tripartite sash window and datestone 1683. Interior has some panelled doors and window reveals.
