II

Farmhouse. Early C17 with C18 alterations. Further alterations
and refurbishment in 1984. Coursed rubble coal measures
sandstone with quoins, coped gables with moulded kneelers, gable
and end ashlar ridge stacks, and stone slated roofs. The
building is made up of three linked ranges, a single storey
single bay range to the north west, a two storey central range,
and a lower two storey range at the south east end. Single bay
range, almost entirely remodelled with a C20 3-light flush
mullioned window. Central range with stacked 3-light windows to
north bays, those to the ground floor renewed, and having narrow
flush mullions in plain flush surrounds. Lower two storey range
to south-east end of three bays, with a single light, a 2-light
and a 3-light window to the ground floor each with flush
surround, and a 3-light chamfer mullioned window to the first
floor. There is evidence of blocked openings in this range.
South-east gable with two 2-light chamfer mullioned windows,
both substantially renewed. C20 leaded lights in metal casement
frames. A doorway to the north-east bay of the central range,
itself an inserted opening was blocked during the course of
refurbishment, and there is now no doorway to the front of the
house.
