Details
DATCHWORTH DATCHWORTH GREEN TL 21 NE (South side) 3/32 No. 19 (Cherry Tree Hall) 20.10.52 (formerly listed as Cherry Tree Hall) - II
House, at one time 2 dwellings. Late C16 or early C17, altered and extended 1930. Said to be brick, all rendered with C20 pargetting. Tiled roof. 3-cell lobby entry originally with stair wing to rear. 2 storeys and attic. Entrance now in right bay, plank door with lattice side lights, gabled pentice porch. Flush frame C20 lattice casements, 2 lights on ground floor except to left of entrance which has 4 larger lights. First floor 3:2:4:3 lights. Tall C17 principal axial ridge stack to left of centre, moulded base, 4 conjoined diagonally set shafts with oversailing caps. Right gable end has 1, 2 and 3 light casements, an exposed plate and an early C20 external stack following early model with tiled offsets. Left gable end scattered casements, lean-to outshut, similar extruded stack with semi-circular pseudo oven on C20 rear wing. To rear: a tall narrow gabled staircase wing to right of centre with 3 light casements. Outer bays have C20 gabled wings of differing lengths, that to left has an entrance, projecting first floor with sham timber framing, to right a lean-to outshut above which in gable is a reset sundial dated 1715.
