7/175 Dovecote, Stable and 27.5.68 Granary at Rectory Farm

GV II

Dovecote, stable and granary. Early C17, C18 granary, linked by small C19 stable. Narrow C17 red brick in English-bond in dovecote with steep hipped-and-gablet roof of old red tiles with plastered gablets. Red brick chequered with black headers in Flemish-bond in granary with half-hipped red tiled roof. Low brick and slate infill stable. A tall single-storey range of 3 buildings a little to W of farmhouse with dovecote at W and stable in middle facing S, and granary at E entered in E gable. Granary has stepped plinth, has its longer dimension E-W, door in centre, gablets formerly louvred, and 2 cross-beams inside. Granary has longer dimension E-W with raised floor and row of 4 round-arched openings in plinth at base of each side. Boarded door at upper level on E end with 2-lights window over. Central stable door on S side of small infill stable.
