TL 3856 COMBERTON GREEN END (East Side) 9/34 No. 22 (Apple cottage)


House. C16 origin, remodelled c.1700 probably following a fire. Timber-framed, plaster rendered, and tiled roof. Ridge stack mainly of early C19 gault brick but with c.1700 red brick visible at base. Two storeys. Three small pane casements, the heads flush with the eaves. Three similar windows and doorway at ground floor. Inside: Panel inscribed MH and the date 1711 probably refers to the remodelling in four bays with inserted chimney stack. Timbers of substantial scantling and a blocked three-light window with diamond mullions at ground floor. R.C.H.M. West Cambs., mon.(29)
