SANDRINGHAM WOLFERTON STATION TF 62 NE (upside, SE side) 2/81 The Original GV II Royal Waiting Rooms on upside, 1876, carstone with gault and some red brick dressings, plain tiles with decorative ridge. 3 cells with porte-cochere to front. South-west facade to yard: brick and stone plinth, small carstone, moulded red brick cornice, 2 horizontal bands of gault brick, and window openings with gault brick jambs and alternate red and gault brick to arches, 4-light sash window to 1st bay, 2 light sash window to 3rd bay having external stack of carstone with red brick dressings to left. Porte-cochere to bay 2 gabled left and right, linked in centre to main roof by cross gable, wind vane finial with AE (Albert Edward Prince of Wales); facade with 9 Gothick glazed panels on timber studded wall above stone and brick plinth, (inserted door of no special interest). Returns now infilled to match main building. Facade to central cell from porte-cochere as rest of facade with flanking pairs of sashes to central doorway; doorway with painted stone surround incorporating stone tympanum with pointed segmental head showing Prince of Wales arms within garter on background of acorns and oak leaves; double-leaved oak doors with decorative strap hinges. Platform facade: in same style as to south-west; central doorway with tympanum as to doorway within porte-cochere, now encased by part glazed wooden porch of railway provenance; 3-light sashes to left and right; canopy over platform now reduced in width, fretwork verge, octagonal wooden posts. Interior: roof of central cell with hammer beams supporting arch braced collars with scissor beams above, pine boarding; fireplace to left with oak surround and mantlepiece, pine panelling c1930; opposing doorway to platform with double-leaved doors of panelled pine. Rooms to left and right ceiled with cross beams supported on corbels painted A (Alexandra, Princess of Wales) and the feathers badge of the Prince of Wales; toilet bays at further ends with fittings of 1930s.
