Details

MOLLAND SS 8028-8128 20/73 Snow headstone approximately 17 - metres to east south-east of chancel ofChurch of Saint Mary GV II Headstone. Dated 1766, restored probably in the early C19. Sandstone C18 headstone with bevelled corners, enclosed in larger C19 segmental-headed tooled sandstone headstone. Inscribed: "Here Lieth in hops of a joy/ful Resurrection the Body of Wilmet the Wife of/THOMAS SNOW of this/parish who Departed this Life/the 13 day of December 1766/Aged 59 years./ Pity Nor Sorrow for me take Love/Another for my Sake". Lightly carved banner inscription in head, "Reedeem the Time" to left, illegible to right, and with central winged cherub's head. Small chamfered rectangular opening in C19 frame at rear revealing inscribed name of C18 mason: "JOHN SNOW".
